BeautyCounter Review

Confession...when I become a mom, my life pretty much became all about my kids.  I was living in the world of cute baby and kid products, and hadn't really opened my eyes to much more outside of that space.  But recently I was introduced to BeautyCounter by my good friend and BeautyCounter Manager Gina Ciuccoli, and I was immediately intrigued.

What is Beauty Counter?
BeautyCounter is a beauty and skincare brand started in 2013 by Gregg Renfrew, a wife and mother, on a mission to create safer products for us all.  Did you know that in the beauty and personal care industry there has not been a federal regulation update since 1938?!  Surprisingly, companies aren't required to disclose all of the ingredients they use in thier products, which mean we might not know exactly what we are putting on our (and our children's) skin.  And as a mom, this is scary.  BeautyCounter actually has a list of over 1,500 ingredients that they will never use in their products, aka The Never List.

What I think sets BeautyCounter apart is not only their complete commitment to safer skincare through their products, but also through action in their desire for change.  The company has been actively working towards increasing federal regulations for safer skincare.  Knowing that this mission will benefit my whole family is a huge plus!  So knowing Beauty Counter's story, I was more than happy to test out a few products and give my honest review.

Products Received:
I received the following samples to try out:

- Charcoal Cleansing Bar
- Cleansing Balm
- Rejuvenating Face Cleanser
- Rejuvenating Radience Serum
- Rejuvenating Day Cream
- Rejuvenating Night Cream
- Rejuvenating Eye Cream
Thoughts:
Out of the items I received, I was most excited to try out the charcoal cleansing bar, simply because my grandmother used a similar type of cleansing bar when I was growing up, and she still has the most amazing skin because of it! The charcoal cleansing bar did not disappoint.  It left my skin feeling super clean, and because my skin tends to be a bit on the dry side, the combination with the moisturizers was a win for me.

I enjoyed the rejuvenating day cream and rejuvenating night cream as well.  They are so light and cool going on your skin, absorb quickly and left my face feeling very clean and refreshed.  One night I decided to do a comparison with my old moisturizer on one side of my face, and the BeautyCounter night cream on the other side just to see if I could actually feel a difference, and I definitely could!  I much preferred the lightness of the rejuvenating cream, and how nice it made my skin feel once it was on. I used every last drop of my samples and am still trying to squeeze out more. ;)

Overall, I'd say I was impressed with BeautyCounter and to be honest, I was skeptical before I tried them!  The products that I sampled I'd definitely buy in the future.  I noticed that my skin felt so smooth and healthier after using the skincare samples.  The company also has products for kids, and a makeup line as well that I'd be interested in checking out.

The only con I'd say would probably be the price of the products, which is really not super high, but a little steeper than what I'm used to spending.  But with BeautyCounter being a premium brand, you are paying for that quality.  To me, the price justification comes in knowing that the products are safe for both you and your family and I just love how much the company truly cares and wants to make a difference.  But my recommendation would be to try out the products first for yourself and see how you feel.  I love trying out new products and providing feedback but I do think everyone should try it for themselves as well!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Gina, and she would be happy to help you out!

Carly

Visit: Rockin' Jump San Diego

A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to Rockin' Jump San Diego for a fun night of food and play.  In the past we enjoyed jumping at their Rockin Tots morning session, but it was a treat for the kids to go at night (and on a school night at that) this time!

In case you've never visited before, Rockin' Jump is not just a trampoline park.  There is an 18 hole miniature golf course outside that looks like a ton of fun for the whole family.
And inside, there is a fun arcade with all sorts of games that my kids really enjoyed.  Like most arcades, you can acquire tickets on your play card, and redeem them for prizes when you're through!

Shaylin tried out their rock climbing wall and did a fabulous job, even while just wearing her Rockin' Jump socks!
And if you get hungry from all that play, you can stop for a bite to eat at the cafe!
We had a ton of fun, Rockin' Jump, thanks for having us!  If you're looking for a fun time for the kids (and a great way to tire them out!), this is your place!

Have fun!

xo,
Carly
