Visit: Pumpkin Station Rancho Bernardo Farm

One of our favorite things to do in the fall is visit pumpkin patches.  There are quite a few around town, and the other day we met up with some friends and visited our first one of the season.  We decided to check out Pumpkin Station in Rancho Bernardo/Escondido, which is an actual pumpkin farm, not just one set up in a parking lot or empty field.  Don't get me wrong, those parking lot pumpkin stations are a lot of fun and usually feature a lot of great carnival rides as a bonus, but there's also something a little special about just being on an actual pumpkin farm.

One of the perks of this pumpkin patch is that admission and parking is free.  For a mama that brings two kids everywhere, free is always good.  You'll see your usual display of small pumpkins...

...as well as large pumpkins!

A tractor hayride around the fields will just cost a dollar.

As will a trip through the 8 foot tall corn maze.  Both are well worth the buck!  The corn maze was actually pretty challenging and at one point we began to wonder if there really was a way out or if the joke was on us.  (there really is a correct way out!)

During your visit you can also check out some farm animals, wander through the pumpkin fields and pick your own pumpkin, and then if you still have time, sit down for a snack at the picnic area.  What a fun and affordable outing for the whole family!  Can't wait to check out our next one!

Pumpkin Station Rancho Bernardo is located at 13421 Highland Valley Road, Escondido, CA 92025.
Open October 1 - October 31
Hours: Monday - Thursday:  9am - 5pm / Friday - Sunday:  9am - 6pm
